For those of you out there that know Jen and I, you may have heard of an epiphany we both had at the same time some years ago. We were standing in line, waiting to check out at Wal-mart when it happened. There was an end cap stocked with smoker paraphernalia (pipes and other items). Jen stared at the display somewhat puzzled and then looked back at me in line (behind our kids) to notice that I was staring past everyone at the same display with the very same somewhat puzzled look. At the precise moment that she looked at me, the light bulb went on in both our heads. With utter astonishment, the following words were mouthed from one of us to the other,
“Pipe cleaners are for cleaning pipes you SMOKE!”
Yes folks. That’s right. Until that moment, in Canton, MI, at isle 1 in the Wal-Mart – Jen and I both had thought that pipe cleaners were for cleaning…you may want to sit down for this…plumbing pipes.
Ever since this unforgettable turning point in our lives, we’ve forever dubbed any event wherein we realize something that makes us feel completely embarrassed and foolish as a “Pipe Cleaner Moment”. Sadly, I have several more stories.
Do you have any pipe cleaner moments to share? I know some of you do, but I won’t dare put your story up here. It’s up to you to come to the light on your own. 🙂
